Your Ovilla pooper scooper
Dog poop scooping in Ovilla.
Ovilla is a small town, about 6 square miles and 4,304 people at the 2020 Census, and it's only a few miles south of our home base in DeSoto. Booty Scoopy is family owned and operated by Brandon and Christina, and Ovilla yards get the same visit as everyone else: we walk the whole yard, double-bag and knot every bit of waste, sanitize the bags before they go in your trash can, sanitize our tools and boots before the next yard, and double-check that the gate is latched when we leave.
Most of Ovilla is in Ellis County, with a piece in Dallas County, and its neighborhoods run from Ashburne Glen and Ovilla Oaks to Westmoreland Acres and Willow Creek Estates. Pick once a week, twice a week or four times a week, or start with a one-time cleanup to reset the yard before Heritage Day guests or a backyard barbecue.
Our enzyme deodorizer breaks down urine and feces odors on lawns, patios and dog runs, and we scoop artificial turf too. Your dogs get treat drop-offs from Pickles Dog Treats, a local woman-owned business that makes little poop-shaped treats for us. New customers get $25 off their first month, and we offer discounts for veterans, teachers, first responders and seniors.

Register your dog with the city
Owning a dog or cat over four months old without a current rabies vaccination, or without a current City of Ovilla registration, is an offense. Your pet wears both tags, rabies and city registration (Sec. 2.02.001).
Registration fees
Registration is free for a microchipped pet, $5 for a pet that's spayed or neutered but not microchipped, and $15 for neither. It's free for seniors 65 and older and people with a physical disability, and a replacement tag is $5.
Why it matters here
Ovilla grew up on upper Red Oak Creek, and the creek still borders Heritage Park on West Main Street. The city's stormwater plan names Red Oak Creek and Little Creek as the waterbodies that receive Ovilla's stormwater, and both make their way into the Trinity River basin. Rain that runs across a yard can carry whatever is lying in the grass toward the storm drains and the creek. That's a good reason to keep the yard picked up: what we scoop goes in your trash can, not downstream.

A little local history
Ovilla, then and now.
- 1844
Ovilla began as a fortified settlement on upper Red Oak Creek. The Handbook of Texas calls it the oldest town in Ellis County.
- 1847
Rev. Finis E. King started the Shiloh Cumberland Presbyterian Church, whose brush arbor meetings drew settlers to the area. In 1853 a log cabin was built to serve as both church and schoolhouse.
- 1850s
The thriving farm community still had no name. Mrs. M. M. Molloy, wife of Rev. D. G. Molloy, later formed one from the Spanish word villa.
- 1906
By the early 1900s Ovilla had a bank, a cotton gin, a pharmacy, a blacksmith shop and several dry goods stores. The post office closed in 1906.
- 1918
Fires in 1918 and 1926 destroyed most of the downtown buildings, and with the railroads and major highways passing it by, the town's growth slowed.
- 1963
Ovilla incorporated so it wouldn't be annexed by DeSoto or other neighbors. Its first census as a city counted 339 people.
- 1996
The Ovilla Gin Cooperative Association donated the old cotton gin site to the city. Today it's Heritage Park.

Frequently asked
Ovilla questions, answered.

How much does dog poop scooping cost in Ovilla, TX?
For most Ovilla yards with one dog on a weekly plan, it comes to under $25 a scoop, billed monthly. Your exact price depends on how many dogs you have, how often we come and your ZIP code, and our quote shows it on the spot. New customers get $25 off their first month, and we give discounts to veterans, teachers, first responders and seniors.
Is there a pooper scooper near me in Ovilla?
Yes. Booty Scoopy is a family-owned pooper scooper just up the road in DeSoto, and we scoop yards in Ovilla's ZIP code 75154, from Ashburne Glen, Brookwood and Bryson Manor to the rest of town. Put your ZIP code in the quote form and we'll confirm your street.
How often should I have my Ovilla yard scooped?
Once a week suits most Ovilla yards: nothing piles up in the Texas heat, and the yard stays ready for kids, guests and the lawn mower. Homes with several dogs do best twice a week, and big packs four times a week.
Do I need to be home when you scoop my Ovilla yard?
No. Just leave the gate unlocked. We walk the whole yard, double-bag and knot the waste, put it in your trash can and double-check that the gate is latched before we leave.
Can I get a one-time yard cleanup in Ovilla?
Yes. A one-time cleanup gets a yard that's gotten away from you back to clean, before a party, a move or a new puppy, or after a long weekend of trips to Cindy Jones and Founders Park. Pick "One-time cleanup" in the quote to see the price.
Do you scoop artificial turf in Ovilla?
Yes. We scoop turf, pads and gravel dog areas and apply our enzyme deodorizer, which also works on lawns and patios that still smell after a scoop. We don't steam clean or deep wash turf.
Is there a contract for poop scooping in Ovilla?
No. There are no long-term contracts with Booty Scoopy: start, pause or cancel anytime, with no cancellation fees.
Who will be scooping my yard in Ovilla?
Brandon and Christina, the owners. Booty Scoopy is a husband-and-wife business just up the road in DeSoto, not a franchise, so the people you call or text are the people in your yard.
Do I need to register my dog in Ovilla?
Yes. Dogs and cats over four months old need a current rabies vaccination and a current City of Ovilla registration, and they wear both tags. Registration is free if your pet is microchipped, and free for seniors 65 and older.
Where can I throw away dog waste on a walk in Ovilla?
All four city parks have a dog or pet waste station: Cindy Jones and Founders Park, Heritage Park, Ken and Sara Pritchett Park and Silver Spur Park.
Is there a dog park in Ovilla?
The city's parks list doesn't include one. For a long walk, Cindy Jones and Founders Park behind City Hall and Heritage Park on West Main Street both have 10-foot-wide concrete trails.
